We endorse Tonya Graham for mayor and Julian Bell for Ashland City Council.
We have known Tonya for many years and can attest to her character, honesty, compassion, generosity and hard work ethic. She is very knowledgeable on the workings of city government. She comes prepared for meetings.
Both Tonya and Julian have been outspoken and committed participants in the development, implementation and updating of the Ashland Climate and Energy Plan. Both declined to sign the “Read our lips — no new taxes nor fees” proclamation mayoral candidate Akins and City Council candidates Card and Moran signed. It is dangerous to paint oneself into such a corner. Who knows what emergent spending needs could arise in the future?
Graham and Bell are the best candidates to carry Ashland’s climate plan forward. They will make reasoned and responsible choices on other issues such as the budget, policing and housing as well.
